Hey Pat,

Cool interview. I had almost forgotten about your relationship April Fools prank. Thanks for reminding me. Consider this notice. :)

"PH: When are you going to get married?

Patrick Rothfuss: Now? One month later. I push the date back by one month every time someone asks. My girlfriend is going to be pissed with you. If I were you, I’d just work at protecting your eyes. She’s a scratcher."

This has to be the best interview answer ever!

And now, I think I'll go rescue (yes, rescue, I already have one just like it) that last copy of the first print with shirtless Kvothe on the cover. Can't let it go back to the publisher!

Can't wait for part two!

I get asked the "when are you getting married" all the time too =P

It's a little more expected because we have a child now, but we're working on it.

Will we ever know what the answer to life really is? Can you really tell me what life is?
Maybe all the things that you know that are precious to you
Could be swept away by fate's own hand.
When you think that we've used all our chances
And the chance to make everything right
Keep on making the same old mistakes
Makes untipping the balance so easy
When we're living our lives on the edge
Say a prayer on the book of 'the dead

happy easter to everyone and upthe irons

Oh, Pat :]

you are one of the extremely few people on the internet(or elsewhere, really) that can actually make me laugh out loud...

I think it was the part about protecting your eyes :D

"I also work hard to avoid over-describing. Too much fantasy suffers from long-winded descriptions."

That is the single greatest complaint I have with some books...I am so glad you agree, maybe that's why I love your book so much!

I have been with my fiancee, and have two kids with, for going on 12 years now. When I am asked when we're getting married I usually reply, "I'm making sure she is the right one.". This doesn't go over too well with her, but, I find it hilarious.

fgsfds I love reading your interviews. XD They make me smile, if not laugh out loud. And then they make me shudder in anticipation of your second book. I can't wait. :]

Hope you had a good Easter, btw~

A fake brake up sounds hilarious. but then again only if you have never broken up before.

Dealing with those couples that hate each other one day and then are mad at you for agreeing they shouldn't be together the next is quite tiring.

I thought they would disappear as I got older, HAHA I don't know why.

If I can suggest anything at all. Get married before you finish the series. Prove to her and yourself she comes first.

Ps just an uneducated suggestion, and that way it wouldn't be just your wife, but also your fans scratching peoples eyes out as the finale release date kept getting pushed back, month by month

What a great interview; it was both fun to read and informative, which is really what you want when you read an interview with a "famous" person.
One of my favorite things about your writing is that it is very precise, as you mentioned in your interview. I hate sloppy writing.

Paperback out in April? That's funny, I bought my paperback copy yesterday. (I usually buy a paperback so I don't mess up my hardcovers with rereadings) Did the date get moved up?

I'm looking forward to the rest of the interview, now.

You don't need to play an instrument to filk. If you make it to Dragon*Con, try to hit the open filk at least one night. It's a group of great people sitting around singing &/or playing fandom-related &/or traditional music. It's a great time & I'd love to have another Browncoat there. ;)

I always love reading your interviews. You never fail to be entertaining.

I hate that "when are you going to get married" question, too. I've been with my partner for ten years. I have zero interest in weddings. Yes, a woman with absolutely no interest in weddings whatsoever! I'd rather use the money for things like books and trips to conventions!

I liked your diplomatic answer to the Denna question. You make a good point because it keeps the mystery around your characters. I think maybe half our characters are based on people we know and the other half are people we wished we knew.

Great interview.

Good interview! Did they get frustrated that you have a habit of deftly sidestepping the questions? Looking over it, you cleverly avoided answering the majority of the questions put! And in a way that was insightful and fun to read.
