The settling dust....

Well, the fundraiser is over, and most of my weekend has been spent dealing with the fallout.

I'll post up a more detailed blog about the aftermath in a couple of days. I'll talk details, show some pictures, give the final totals, and discuss the plans for the future.

But for now, my priority is sending out the books to everyone who won prizes. That means I'm too busy packaging things up with Sarah to write up a new blog right now. And no, that's not a euphemism.

Check out all the swag, and this isn't even including Subterranean Press's books.

The more observant of you might note that my book is glowing with some sort of holy light. That's right folks, not only is it a cracking good read, but The Name of the Wind will actually help you cut energy costs by illuminating your house. Plus, basking naked in its warm glow will help your body generate much-needed vitamin D.

This is why they don't let me write ad copy.

In other news, if you're looking for a way to pass the time, I did an online author panel thinger with a few other folks over at bookgeeks, talking about the classic science/magic issue.

So if you're interested in what we had to say, or if you're just looking to kill time at work, feel free to wander over there and check it out.

Later all,

pat

Every single day. If I killed any more time, I would be doing time.

Super well done on the huge amount of money raised for charity Pat. It's been emotional.

The raffle has already been drawn? With the momentum this contest was gaining, I'm surprised it wasn't broadcast on national TV. I bet you needed a BIG hat to fit all those little pieces of paper in.

Also, I like your bookcase (that's not a euphemism, either).

So should we assume that if we didn't hear anything, then we didn't win anything? Just curious.

I was intending to ask the same question as logankstewart. Has the draw already happened?

What a thrill! I'm still goggling at the extraordinary sum fans raised for this worthy cause. I'm so happy to have been a part of this venture.

Were participants notified by email if they won a prize, or will it be a surprise when they receive their package?

Well, congratulations on finishing the drawing and getting over 50,000 to donate to Heifer International. Our school is already doing it, so I’m sorry to say that I couldn’t help your cause, but it’s still going to the same place either way.

Although I have to say, I know few people who would sit in front of a book naked. Haha.

Hi Pat!

Congrats in raising so much for a great charity!

Imagine my surprise when I found a package from you in my door. I can't believe I won swag too. :)

If I was even 5 feet from all that greatness I could die happy.

By the way, I really wanted to donate to this amazing cause. Unfortunately being a minor without a job or a car leaves me with no disposable income. :/

Got my book today. You are the man, Pat.

One query: Is it you or your girlfriend that writes the letter 'a' like the computer 'a' -- with the additional semi-circle up top? I think it may be the first time I've seen someone incorporate that into their handwriting.

Donating to such a good cause was its own reward, but winning something sure is sweet sweet icing on the cake!
Thanks, Pat.

Well, I admit to at first beeing very prizeorientated. But when I donated I had read up and was a bit more philantropic.

And I even was so inspired I picked up the book, very promising thus far :)

All in all this was a fun experience to partake in. Bit of gambling, bit of charity and a new fantasybook to dive into :)

Kudos

I see very little dust there, to be honest. :)

i'm guessing no email means no prize....yes buying honeybees was partly the draw...swag was the grabber though.

i'm guessing the person who donated $715 won most of the prizes.

GAH! I can only imagine how much packing you will be doing! Good luck with that. If you lived close by, I'd volunteer to help you pack and ship those books. Thanks for having the "contest" / charity drive. It feels good to give, and the Heifer charity seems like a great one. Keep us informed about them and all that happened.
