Reading/Booksigning in Wausau
I have retreated to my man-cave again, deep in the frozen north of Wisconsin near Hayward. The lack of internet, cell phones, or human companionship makes for good writing.

The downside is the same as he upside. It wouldn't be real isolation if I could flip it off with a switch.

That means on a day like today, when I want to check my e-mail and post a quick blog, I'm forced to extreme measures. The library is closed on Sundays here, so their computers are out. The local coffeeshop closes at 3:00, so I'm similarly boned. Deprived of both my life-giving caffeine and life stealing wi-fi.

So instead I'm next door, in the laundromat, typing on the mini that my dad gave me for Christmas. If I sit on this bench against the west wall, I can catch the edge of the coffeeshop's wifi. My great manly hands are too big for this keyboard, so I'll ask you to be forgiving of any tyops that slip through.

The details of my LA trip are still forthcoming. But for now I just wanted to mention a Reading/Q&A/Booksigning that I'll be doing in Central Wisconsin in just a week or so.

Tyops? I get the feeling we've been duped. But I know what you mean about the internet—very evil, the internet is.

You paint quite the desperate picture of a man deprived of connectivity, Pat.

What's a "mini?" By the context, it sounds like something small... The name hints to that possibility as well.

I agree with Marissa. I'm from RI and don't get to travel much so you should def. come out to New England sometime Pat. The weather is almost identical to what you're used to so i'm sure you'll feel right at home!

There are now six people in Scotland requesting your presence on eventful. SIX! That makes you as popular as Avenged Sevenfold. That, in my world, is truly a braw thing.

WV: bedromb. Just one letter away from a good time.

Thanks for the link, Matt. They're so cute! I want a mini, and I'm going to name it Bubbles.

Just picturing you typing on a mini is brightening my day with laughter.

I may or may not be in Wausau. You picked the one night a week I'm kind of painfully booked, but I can possibly bail on one meeting.

Now I'm very curious about where your secret Northwoods lair is. My family's cabin is on Lower Eau Claire Lake, about 20 miles north of Hayward on 27. I hope you enjoy your time up there as much as I's my favorite place in the world.

Excellent to hear you've closed yourself off from distractions Pat, in order to write TWF. This way we can hope that it will be published in the second half of the year. Keep at it.

Ah, frozen-wilderness writing isolation sounds marvelous. I have a fantasy writing cabin in the mountains where there is no internet access and where the woodland creatures and elves leave gifts of banana bread on the doorstep.

My word verification below is "swortfu" -- doesn't it sound kind of like a deadly marial art?

Dude, I don't even have to retreat to some man cave of isolation when i want to write. I live is Mississippi...theres hardly such thing as a social life here lol.
We do have a borders though, (my heifer of life sent from God), haha, one that is just begging for you to come do a signing at.

I'm thinking you need to experience the rabid fans of your book who reside in Montana. More specifically Missoula Montana. Miscon 23 is in May. I believe that it begins May 22nd. Michael Stackpole will be there as well as C.J. Cheryjh (i don't think i spelled that correctly, but weren't you talking about typos? Sausage Fingers unite! As good as those authors are, having you show up would make the convention as far as I'm concerned. Anyway I'm currently trying to spread the gospel of NOTW to as many folks as i can. Hopefully soon you will have enough minions to take over the world.

Also if you can't make it to Miscon. then how about a reading/signing in Missoula. The weather is just like Wisconsin. Well for right now it is anyway.
By the way in case you haven't heard it enough by now. effing book I have read to date. And that's 30 years o'readin at this point. Keep it up and i'll be reading these books to my newborn son when he gets older.
