Congrats, The day my 3 month old son was born was one of the best days of my life. I love to read on the couch with him asleep on my chest. I can't wait until I get to read aloud to him!
May they tell stories, and dance in the rain, Somersault, tumble, and run; May their joys be as high as their sorrows are deep, May they grow like a weed in the sun.
Very nice. As a young father of four let me give you some advice. Kids take up MOST of your time. You are not going to be able to do what YOU want to do, i.e. write, game it up, flog the monkey. But you must remember to do all of those thing. If you dont you run the risk of resentment and that is not good. You might think you are resentful but you start makin the punishments a little longer and maybe yellin a little more about thing all kids do only because they do not know any better. Dont forget you also have to pay MORE attention to the old lady, or young lady whatever she may be. No matter how strong of a woman she is all of them need complete support because lets face it... they is more important than us. They got the teet. Anyway congrates and have more.
Congratulations! Here's to a healthy pregnancy and baby! I'm a mother of a 5 year old and a 4 year old...it's a lot of hard work but being a mother is one of the best experiences in life!
Congratulations to you and Sarah! I have no doubt that any child of such parents will be seriously awesome in every way. Great joy to the three of you!
Now we know that the second book was delayed due to (at least some) F-ing around :). Easy and repeated joke, but I would've not been able to sleep had I not written it. Seriously speaking: Congrats! The best of luck for all three of you!
Congrats, you should do an online poll as to which Name of the Wind Character to name him/her after, or maybe a lottery to name him/her after a fan. J/K but seriously, I put my vote in for Mouse. =D
And now a new chapter begins... Life as you know it will never be the same, and you will love every minute of it even when you want to pull all your hair out. A big big congrats to you and your lady.
Cool... be sure to put pictures of the hairy little thing (because it will be hairy, you KNOW it) when he or she makes their grand entrance (or from Sarah's POV, the grand exit)
So I was watching Lost with my sister and I decided to pull up your blog, see what's new. and I read this, scream, pause Lost (you have to important to get me to pause lost) Show my sister, then we run up stairs with the laptop to show our other sister who's response is "cool"
Exciting shit dude! Congrats to you, and send our congrats to Sarah as well!!
Congratulations! That is indeed 'some' news and of the wonderful kind. Get ready because things will be SO different for you both from now on, but in a great way. Welcome to Parenthood.
I know y'all don't know me (I was the very pregnant lady in line at the Pasadena book signing...the hat knitter, you drew a duck for my baby, then in utero, now Winifred), but give Sarah a big hug for me, would you?
Do you both wish to know the gender? It'll make baby knitting much more specific :)
I think it's funny that a new edition of the book gets a post of moderate length about "new additions to the family" while an actual addition to your family only merits a few words with a vague title. :) Seriously though, congratulations!
congrats pat, of course! that's amazing and, echoing all the other comments, i'm absolutely positive you'll be an amazing father!
to sarah: yayyy! you don't have a blog of your own (as far as I know) so I just wanted to say congrats!! that's amazing and i wish you two all the best! (and the baby, of course!)
Bit of advice..... before the child is born, never tell ANYONE the baby's name. We have three. Hazel, Sabine, and Wolf. We think they are the best names and certainly the kids are living up to the respective meanings. However, every other creature on the face of God's Earth thought it was their solemn duty to inform us of the insanity of each of those choices. My husband was a good sport though and always said something like, "Do you know what she has to endure physically and emotionally while she is growing our child in her body? If she wants to name that thing Sassafrass Moon DingoQueen, well, she totally earned it." Congradulations! Our thoughts and prayers are with your lovely family.
Congrads to th three of ya! ^w^ live and let live. You and Sarah enjoy your new rolls in life. I know that your kid(s) will love th two of ya no matter what. I think I speak for all your fans when I say that we wish you and your family the best happiness. Hang in there with the tough times and savor the good times while they last. So once again, congradulations to Sarah and congradulations to you, Pat! Have fun!
Everyone is saying congratulations. Unfortunately, my mental thesaurus cannot come up with a better synonym. I hate to be redundant — so I'm going to be original and say absolutely nothing.
Word verification: Hifercu (hiff-er-sue). Apparently, an esoteric synonym of congratulations.
Wow, that's so exciting! and I want to express my best wishes and such... but everyone has been saying "congrats" and "congratulations". (Except for the one innovative soul who said hifercu. Kudos to them for teaching me a new word. :D ) I guess I'll just go with... What a blessing! Good luck raising a precious little monster! If you do as good a job bringing up a kid as you do writing novels, then he/she will take a long time to complete (which makes sense, really) and be incredible and very involving, with the possible side affect of being addicting and 700 pages long. :) BTW, my word verification was Nomenne - I'm thinking that would make a great character name, although a bit difficult for a kid to live up to. I hope you have fun picking a name for him/her!
Wonderful news, Pat! Will this get past the editing and printing processes so that Sarah only has to suffer through an 11 mo pregnancy?
I know where I can get a vat of lard so the beard isn't too scratchy on exit, too! I assume any offspring of yours will come out with a full beard, take three steps and write the third book in the series!
Best wishes to you and Sarah! Meet me in the Galaxy for some father to father advice. I may not have all the answers, but am honest about my mistakes!
DAMN IT PAT! Stop being so selfish! How can you POSSIBLY write as much with an infant on your hands! *Mutters curse words and various idle threats* :)
On a more serious note! CONGRATULATIONS! And I PROMISE not to hold it against you if it delays subsequent releases...an ended writing career....no more stories of Kvothe.... DEAR GOD.
You thought you were having a blast before?!! Oh, ho, ho... you and Sarah have just created something that will make it all pale in comparison.
The fun has just begun!!!!
It's a little early to offer any sage advice (and why would you trust me to give you any advice on the most precious thing in your life?!!) but please, please, please trust me when I say... record it ALL. You WILL start to forget and she/he/they WILL want to hear it ALL.
My kids have always thought it was fascinating to know what I craved, what specific discomfort I suffered (the smell of eggs making me hurl or craving giant platefuls of kalbi short-ribs), what little quirks they had in-utero (daughter had hiccups constantly during that last month... right into Mommy's bladder!!), and their birthing stories. Babyhood, toddlerhood, and beyond.
They want to know all of the things they can't remember - from the funny things they say to how much they weighed when they were five.
Record it all. Enjoy EVERY second because it flies by faster than you can imagine. Eighteen years goes by far too quickly.
Pat, send Sarah our warmest wishes. THis is really all about her for the next 9.5 months. Then you can do your part, chage some diapers, some 3am, then 5am feedings. You are basically just along for the ride at this point, but what a ride it is. Enjoy.
WV- Lomoun- The blessings of the minor gods that brighten each day, and every life.
I can see some very funny blog postings coming our way...
I'm thrilled for you both. A special hug for Sarah, from every other mother out here. A world of wonder awaits...
Having had three - and growing my fourth as we speak - my advice is to write now! Do as much as you can before baby arrives. Because one, afterward you won't want to write when you could be gazing at your precious, and two, life will be forever fragmented into tiny spaces of time and none of them ever seem long enough to write in.
Congratulations to both Sarah and you! Make sure you look after Sarah well and prepare yourself for the most evil mood swings and unpredictable behaviour - if you thought "those days once a month" are bad - you ain't seen nothing yet!!
Wow! Congratulations! You'll be amazed at how humbling it is to have a mini-you or a mini-Sarah looking into your eyes, snuggling up to you, and making you feel like you are the world to them. Best feeling in the world!
Some part of me is only a bit sceptic. Everybody is immediatly very exited and of cours that is the right reaction. But maybe you announce tomorrow that it is your neighbour that is getting a baby (and we are all fooled by a tag). I hope not but I'm not fully trusting your quitness. I like jokes myself and this would be a mean but funny one.
But if not then I'm wishing you and Sarah a beautifull future and lots of love as a family.
Given that as recently as January were saying that questions about when you were going to "spawn"/marry rated second as your least favorite question of all time (after only when is book two coming out) I am betting on a book character or a friend.
But I don't know since a small blog trailer isn't going to top you and Sarah taking weeks to stage your break up. Either way you've made me smile. Thanks again Pat. :D
Congrats! My wife is 1/2 through gestating our third. Kids and writing go together like peanut-butter and whole wheat bread; it takes some getting used to, but it is better for you in the long run. "Writing supports life, not the other way around." ~ S. King
Congrats again, you da man (and Sarah's the woman! Whooot!)!
Congrats man!!! I've got two of my own, and let me tell you, it is as much fun as you might think molding and shaping them into your own personal dorks. I've got girls (1 and 4) and, much to my wife's chagrin, my four year old is already well versed in Star Wars. Next up, Lord of the Rings (and of course, not long after that, The Kingkiller Chronicles, which should be done by the time my kids are old enough to read it, right?) It's awesome.
Congratulations! I'm 16 weeks pregnant with my first and sick all day, every day. The best respite I had was discovering The Name of the Wind and devouring every word; now my biggest craving is for more of Kvothe's story!!! Hope everything goes well for you both!
F*ck now we'll never get the next book. {Sigh} Way to help overpopulate the Earth, prick.
(Just kidding, congrats Pat! Just had to write something different. You sir, will make a fun and loving father, there's no doubt. I guess I see a ring in the future for Sarah? Eh? Eh? Eh?)
Congratulations to you both! I hope Sarah will have an easy pregnancy and birth. Oh, and yes to what has been said before: Give back rubs and take-aways at any silly time until your baby is born. Sarah deserves being pampered even if her wishes sometimes seem to be very odd. :)
Funny how the previous blog post was titled, "New additions to the family." yet it was about the paperback! This one, "Some news..." is actually about a child.
Congrats! I'll be interested to see whether this is reflected in your future writings. Not that I'd be able to tell, since I have no emotional basis on which to place my empathy. (Or should that be Sympathy?) ((WOW I'm tired, but also very happy for you!))
Congratulations Pat! That's incredible, really. I'm so stupidly happy for you. Have you picked a name yet? By the way, I don't think Kvothe is a good idea, the teachers and other children would have trouble with it and living up to his namesake would put a lot of pressure on him. I was joking of course, hope I wasn't offensive or anything like that. But seriously, congratulations, and I have to say I'm sure your child will be extremely happy. I mean, his father is Patrick Rothfuss! (I think it is at least, the post was a question, so I may have given the wrong answer...)
Continuing the redundancy I say congratulations to you and Sarah! I became a father 10 months ago and it's impossible to remember a time without my little girl. Enjoy every moment and take lots of picture.
Who's having a baby? ME! Thank you so much for putting up this post and all! It means so much! :)
No, seriously, that is wonderful news. My husband and I found out about ours in January, total surprise. Baby was rapidly named Parasite, and we still continue to refer to our little nerd in the making as such. We're at 20 weeks now and supposed to have our first ultrasound tommorow. Of course, this does mean that our child now has a rival in being the promised Geek Messiah. My friends have already decided that Parasite will fill this role. As they point out, "Dude, you guys met online in a Star Trek RPG. How could you not produce a nerd baby?" Welcome to the geek breeding program. And remember what I told my husband after three months of having my head in the toilet and only being able to eat crackers, "This is all your fault."
I'm in no position to make demands... but I demand you immediately get him/her a multi-colored beanie like in your very recent picture.
As a second demand I'm completely unqualified to make, I demand you post a picture of "said baby" and it's father in their respective hats on your blog. After the baby is born. For god's sake, don't try to put the hat on before then. I know you are a new father and all, but that is just common sense.
Congratulations Pat & Sara. I doubt this will be news to him but raise him with love and care. I never knew my father. I hope your boy/girl grows up to be your biggest fan, next to your wife, and gives you inspiration for more things in life, especially more really good books lol,. Your Fan, Fred P.S. No jokes about kids these days still getting named Fred
I can already imagine ten years from now: "Daddy, daddy, when are you going to finish book two? I want to know how the story continues..." This will be even more pressure than what you experience from your fans! :-) Seriously, all the best and congratulations!
WOOHOO Grats Pat no greater joy in the world than having a wee little tike! May the universe prepare for the future of bearded quill bearing Rothfuss children!!
P.S. my word verification is ackin...just seemed weird and maybe alittle off-putting
Congratulations! Tell Sarah that one cure for morning sickness is to eat something as soon as you wake up. As in: keep something on the night table, wake up, roll over and eat it.
It got said earlier, but it's so great that you're an author who tells his blog followers/fanatical legions these things. We do truly love you. :)
Congratulations and best wishes are in order for you and your honey. Well, actually more for Sarah, because she'll be doing all of the pushing. Man, from one proud papa to another, give much love to sarah and the little one. You're warmth, love and understanding will be returned a thousand times over, and the joys you have experienced so far will make those which you have already lived seem truly insignificant. May the life you have both created be filled with joy and hope and a million bright tomorrows. As for a name, if Sarah has a boy waiting in her as yet to clench womb, how 'bout Jake. Why Jake, you ask? Well, he is my favorite Minor character in my favorite novel: The Name of The Wind, and something tells me he, like your new baby, is anxiously waiting in the wings for his fifteen minuts to arrive.
Oh, you're in for it man. Both good and bad. You're going to deal with emotions and bodily fluids doing things that you never knew they could do. It's the best thing ever, though - that's for sure. You'll love every minute. Even those where you're being peed upon by a tiny tyrant that commands every second of your attention.
Best wishes. Children are so complicated, fragile and beautiful. Each moment is so valuable, in part because there are no guarantees about how many moments there will be. I have never felt such a sense of heady fear as when I had my 2 boys.
Good luck and congratulations, Pat and Sarah! I know you two will make great parents. I hope it's a boy and comes out with a fully grown beard. Word Verification sounds congratulatory: hoozoo!
Quick! Finish the book! (I'm kidding... although as a recent Dad, you will find that you will have much less free time once the little one comes along.)
I am sure that you will find, as I did, that having a child is the greatest experience that life can offer. Enjoy the ride!
Congratulations to both of you, all the best for your new life as mum and dad! Hope all went well and that you’ll be able (or stubborn enough) to take enough time off. About finishing part two: Compared to other fantasy-goodies, which are like a nut-cream-and-waffle chocolate bar which you can read, sorry, devour, all at once in a delicious trice, The Name of the Wind is more like 70 per cent cocoa dark chocolate with grenadine-chili filling (try!!!) – it’s just too many different, overwhelmingly exquisite flavours to swallow down just like that. A waste to read the book too fast! And if it would be a pity to READ it too fast, it would definitely be a shame to WRITE it too fast! So take your time, especially with so many other important things going on in your life. Enjoy family-life, your free time, and writing your blog (it is really great you put so much time in it). And I’ll be looking forward to reading Wise Man’s Fear in 2025.
Congradulations Pat! I'm sure that both you and Sarah will be great parents! I'm not entirely sure why but i am proud of you guys! Way to go! Now you just have to tell Sarah how amazing she is twice as much...

Yea Patrick! Just don't let this get in the way of that magnificent Kingkiller Chronicles.
Haha,just kidding man. Have fun!
Congratulations!!
This is terrible news! How are you going to finish your second and third book with a baby to take your attentions away!?!
Yes I'm being sarcastic. Mostly.
Congratulations to this non-book addition to your family.
For some reason this bit of news made me think of that young-rothfuss pic you posted not too long ago.
And the cyle begins all over again.
wow! man, what a lucky kid, imagine the bedtime stories (s)he'll get!
Congratulations to all of you!
I assume you want a child or you wouldn't have announced the pregnancy. Therefore, congrats! May you and yours cherish him/her.
Congrats! How super duper exciting for you both - I reckon you're going to make awesome parents. Enjoy the ride!
Since no ones put it this way yet, Mazel Tov...all the best
May they tell stories, and dance in the rain,
Somersault, tumble, and run;
May their joys be as high as their sorrows are deep,
May they grow like a weed in the sun.
Congratulations!

Congratulations! Here's to a healthy pregnancy and baby!
I'm a mother of a 5 year old and a 4 year old...it's a lot of hard work but being a mother is one of the best experiences in life!
Congrats, Pat!! We're trying for one ourselves. My hubby just finished the book and loved it. We not both eagerly await the second one.
From friends who've had kids: go with her to the MD, put up with craziness, and rub her feet without being asked.
No idea.
Congrats! Whether it's a girl or boy, I expect it to be born fully-bearded :)
Wow! CongratugratugratuLATIONS!
Oh my goodness! Congratulations!! :D
Oh, hurrah! Congratulations to you both.
Congrats, you should do an online poll as to which Name of the Wind Character to name him/her after, or maybe a lottery to name him/her after a fan.
J/K but seriously, I put my vote in for Mouse.
=D
I bet he will have a lot of input for "Wise Man"; Awesome news!!
Congratulations
And now a new chapter begins... Life as you know it will never be the same, and you will love every minute of it even when you want to pull all your hair out. A big big congrats to you and your lady.
Found out Six years ago today that my daughter would be joining my life. Congrats. Would be cool if they had the same birthday. Dec. 7
Enjoy today...you will remember it forever...
Congratulations Pat!!!
Take some, a lot of time. Spend it with your family. You will not regret it.
An admiring reader, and recent father.
That's superfantabulousiocious!!!
I would say something joke-wise about it interfering with the second book's progress, but it's already been done.
Grats.
Congratulations! Kids are the best!

Stunning!
I can't figure out why I'm so surprised.

Congratulations, Pat and Sarah.
I expect him (or her) to spring forth from the womb with facial hair fully formed.
Congratulations! Wish y'all the best!
Congratulations Pat!
My heart goes out to the two of you and may you three be very happy!
Congrats Pat!
I just sputtered incoherently at the computer screen for a full minute before I could figure out what just happened.
Is the plural of Rothfuss "Rothfusses" or "Rothfi?"
CONGRATS AND STUFF!!
Word Verification - Habsebol - do you-OH MY GOD PAT ROTHFUSS IS HAVING A BABY
Wow, that's so exciting!
and I want to express my best wishes and such... but everyone has been saying "congrats" and "congratulations". (Except for the one innovative soul who said hifercu. Kudos to them for teaching me a new word. :D )
I guess I'll just go with...
What a blessing! Good luck raising a precious little monster! If you do as good a job bringing up a kid as you do writing novels, then he/she will take a long time to complete (which makes sense, really) and be incredible and very involving, with the possible side affect of being addicting and 700 pages long.

BTW, my word verification was Nomenne - I'm thinking that would make a great character name, although a bit difficult for a kid to live up to. I hope you have fun picking a name for him/her!

I give up

Congrats, Pat! Excited to hear the news! Best wishes to you.
Congratulations, Pat! =)

Congratulations to both Sarah and you! Make sure you look after Sarah well and prepare yourself for the most evil mood swings and unpredictable behaviour - if you thought "those days once a month" are bad - you ain't seen nothing yet!!
All our best,
Steve and Michaela
awh, it's a baby!!! congratulations to you both!!
it's been said before-but that kids gonna love bedtime stories :D
Congrats again! x
Congratulations!!!
Umm, Martha Stewar????
lol, congrats!!!
Amazing news, Pat! I hope mother and baby are doing well.
Good job, Sir. Good job. Consider my hat doffed.
Congrats Pat!
OMG Congratulations!!!!
Congrats Pat and Sarah!!!
Wow, that 'womb clenching' line of hers is coming back with a vengeance ... congrats! Exciting times. PS: feed her what she asks for. Immediately.
Congrats! If it is a boy, it'll come out beard-first.
CONGRATULATIONS! I'm sure you'll make one proud papa!
Congratulations! Wonderful news!!!!!
Huzzah!!! Congrats on spawning life.
Super Awesome Pat! You must be so excited!
Instead of tasty treats to bribe you into signing a book should people now send in baby items? Clothes? Food? Lots and lots of nappies??
!
Why do I have the feeling that when the baby is born, it's going to be used in some all time awesome pranks?
Congratulations Pat, and congratulations Sarah!
At least we now know the child will have a birthday in the school year and won't have to steal St. Patricks day for brownie bringing purposes. ^_~
Congratulations to both of you! I expect that will be a beautiful baby, mind and body.
Kids are way more awesome than books- don't let your job keep you from being a great dad!
Wonderful news Pat - who's the father?
Wow! Congratulations! You'll be amazed at how humbling it is to have a mini-you or a mini-Sarah looking into your eyes, snuggling up to you, and making you feel like you are the world to them. Best feeling in the world!
Congratulations!
Dear Pat and Sarah,
Congratulations! What a great news!!
Wow, Congratulations!
I'm really looking forward to here more about the new family member. If it's a boy you should really consider Kvothe ;)
No, seriously I hope you all three will be happy, and the pregnancy won't be too hard on Sarah.
Is it you?
First of all, congratulations!
Second of all, PLEASE keep up your writing pace! ;_;
Also I love the post that guessed Kvothe...lol
:D :D :D
Congratulations! It will be a cute little kid. Let us know if it is a girl or a boy!!!
Congratulations, Pat and Sarah.
At least this piece of work WILL be delivered within 9 months ;)
Sarcasm, of course. Best of luck to the three of you.
Best of luck to you both, Pat.
Raisin' a beer down here for the fantastic news!
Congratulations!
Wow! The first ever bearded baby...
This post has been removed by the author.
Who?
I give up.
Congratulations! And good luck. :)
being a father is the best thing I have ever done. I hope your experience is as awesome as mine.
Whooot!)!
Congratulations. Wow. Crazy stuff, having kids, and absolutely wonderful and perspective shattering. We'll have to talk about this at the next con...
Congratulations! :)
Congratulations, you'll both have a wail of a time.
Great news! Get the ultrasound up on the website pronto! (joke, joke)
F*ck now we'll never get the next book. {Sigh} Way to help overpopulate the Earth, prick.
(Just kidding, congrats Pat! Just had to write something different. You sir, will make a fun and loving father, there's no doubt. I guess I see a ring in the future for Sarah? Eh? Eh? Eh?)
WooWoo! Congrats!
Buy Mylicon for the baby.
Buy Ben and Jerry's for Sarah.
And Sam's Club size bottle of Tylenol for you.
Yay!
Congratulations to you both!
I hope Sarah will have an easy pregnancy and birth.
Oh, and yes to what has been said before: Give back rubs and take-aways at any silly time until your baby is born. Sarah deserves being pampered even if her wishes sometimes seem to be very odd. :)
Congrats to the both of you Pat. That's great news. All the best of luck, love, wisdom and health.
Funny how the previous blog post was titled, "New additions to the family." yet it was about the paperback! This one, "Some news..." is actually about a child.
Oh wow! Congratulations! :)
Denna's pregnant!? You weren't supposed to spoil that already!
Congrats! I'll be interested to see whether this is reflected in your future writings. Not that I'd be able to tell, since I have no emotional basis on which to place my empathy. (Or should that be Sympathy?) ((WOW I'm tired, but also very happy for you!))
Wow! Congrats! Life is about to get much more hectic, but in a good way! Good luck!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I take it you mean one with diapers? :)
Congratulations! You should finish the second book fast (of course to have something which you can read to your son/daughter).
CU, Martin
Oh wow pat thats amayzing! you'll be a fantastic daddy! I mean just think of the bedtime stories!
Congratulations to both you and Sarah!
Oh and good luck!
Way to go Sarah! Pat, you take care of her every pregnancy whim. A happy preggo Sarah is a happy Pat Daddy. ;)
*SQUEE*
Congratulations! What a thrill!
Congratulations! Welcome to the rest of your life.
gives your post title before this one a whole new meaning, eh :).
Congratulations!
Congratulations! Hope all goes well. Keep us updated on the bell progress. Maybe you need a separate blog for that..
Congratulations!
Now you are going to come out with Kvothe for the kids!
Stay warm up there- Cheers!
Denna? She finally got knocked by the string of men she burns through. The skank!
Congratulations Pat! I am glad you finally gave us the big news. :)
You'll be a very cool daddy I'm sure!
Ha, that's awesome. I hope him/her comes out looking more like Sarah. Just saying... =)
'Grats!
Congratulations, your boys can swim!
WOW!
There was much jaw-dropping, and then there was much rejoicing!
Congratulations!
Will it be born with a beard?!
Continuing the redundancy I say congratulations to you and Sarah! I became a father 10 months ago and it's impossible to remember a time without my little girl. Enjoy every moment and take lots of picture.
Yay!! Congratulations to you!!
And remember what I told my husband after three months of having my head in the toilet and only being able to eat crackers, "This is all your fault."
congrats!
Probably not your kid
Dude!
Sarah's quote from a couple blogs back just got a little funnier.
"Whenever you call me a rule utilitarian it makes my womb clench."
"More writing, less kid making!
I'm KIDding, congratulations =D"
Nice pun
Congratulations, Pat. It's tough, but a wonderful experience...and makes writing more meaningful, in an odd way.
:) Patrick...you dog!
Your Fan,
Fred
P.S. No jokes about kids these days still getting named Fred
I can already imagine ten years from now: "Daddy, daddy, when are you going to finish book two? I want to know how the story continues..."
This will be even more pressure than what you experience from your fans!
:-)
Seriously, all the best and congratulations!
Congratulations!!!
Darn, go into surgery and miss exciting news! Congrats you two! Many wishes for a happy, healthy baby.
Excellent! Now when you die, there will be an heir to take up the quill.
My question: Will he burst into the world fully bearded, or no?
I'm late to the party, but just wanted to add my Congratulations to everyone else's. Very exciting news and I can't wait to see pictures!
WOOHOO Grats Pat no greater joy in the world than having a wee little tike! May the universe prepare for the future of bearded quill bearing Rothfuss children!!
P.S. my word verification is ackin...just seemed weird and maybe alittle off-putting
Wish you all the best!
Maybe you will soon be writing all night long ;-)
Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeers! (you english people say so, right? :) )
That's fantastic. Congratulations.
Soundproof your office now, or every squeal of delight or cry of discomfort will make you come running, and you'll never get anything done.
Congratulations!!!
I wanted to say something funny or special, but everything I could think of has already been sayed.
So have a good time with your family, enjoy the time you have together and don't fear the future. Everything will be allright.
When Sarah gets sick, tell her to stay in bed and eat some dry bread first thing in the morning, before getting up. It works ;-)
I'm so happy for you and your child. You will be great parents!
Congratulations!! Ite been sadi so many times above me but who cares u deserve it mate.
now u are commanded to go out and get absolutely smashed to celebrate. Drinks are on me :P
I read the post and imagined a mini-Pat complete with gnome outfit and beard...
Contgratulations, man. You're going to be a Big Damn Hero in the most important sense, and so's your Lieutenant.
P.S. Don't let the writing get in your way, no matter what anyone says. Family first - but you already knew that.
P.P.S. Hope the pregnancy goes all right. You'll make an awesome dad.
With a beard that fine I never doubted you were brimming with male jelly.
Now no more giving all your money away! You have to save up for that boarding-kindergarten.
Grats Pat!
That's awesome!
^.^
You have 9 months to finish your trilogy, gogogogogogo!
Pat:
You guys foreshadow much?
That is fantastic, congratulations!
Best of luck.
YES! Brilliant news, Pat! I can't tell you how much I whooped when I read this. This is absolutely FANTASTIC news!
Blimey, I'm so happy for you and Sarah! You'll make an excellent dad!
Might I suggest The Name of the Wind as a bedtime story? :) I wish my Dad could have read that to me but I was a child years before its release.
Again, congratulations!
Best wishes, Pat! AWESOME news.
Prayers for mother and baby's health,
Joy
Shall we refer to you as Pappa Rothfuss from now on?
Awesome. My wife and I are having our first kid in July. She woke me up and said, "It says pregnant."
I replied, "What does?"
Quick! Finish the book!
(I'm kidding... although as a recent Dad, you will find that you will have much less free time once the little one comes along.)
I am sure that you will find, as I did, that having a child is the greatest experience that life can offer. Enjoy the ride!
But I thought your books just had a baby. Arent those the photos you posted on your last blog?
PS
You will soon be able to make your very own Goldilocks references...
Wow, Pat!!! That is fantastic news! Fatherhood will change your life in a way you've never know.
Prepare for the next realm.
Carrie W. (from DeForest)
Congratulations!!! Although unoriginal, i must ask...Kvothe?
Huzzah! Better start writing book 3 now--you won't have time to later!
Seriously, congrats to both of you, and I look forward to the silly pictures of the happy family :)
Will he be born with a beard?
WOW! Congratulations Sarah and Pat :)
Congratulations to you and Sarah!
This is gonna be the first bearded newborn in the world...
Congradulations Pat! I'm sure that both you and Sarah will be great parents! I'm not entirely sure why but i am proud of you guys! Way to go! Now you just have to tell Sarah how amazing she is twice as much...
Gobsmacked! That is so wonderful! Congratulations! That is going to be one lucky kid--a dad with an imagination! And a smart and beautiful mom!
One lucky kid.
Congrats again.
Jules
Figured I'd bump you up to 200 comments and congratulations, Pat.
Best wishes to you and Sarah and the soon-to-be little Rothfuss Jr.
